Exercise Is Medicine
At the back of the clinic we have a newly equipped rehabilitation and fitness gym. This climate controlled room is equipped with a treadmill, weights, core stability equipment and a Power Plate. It is an integral part of the treatment used by both Carlie-Ann and Sophie and patients are encouraged to include visits to the gym under supervision as part of their treatment regime.
As we have said before, treatment is not just aimed at pain relief but also getting to the cause of the problem. This is typically related to some sort of muscular imbalance. This causes poor postural control and over-strain on some parts of the body, which leads to breakdown and injury. In order to prevent recurrence of the problem we encourage everyone to have some sort of postural re-education and core muscle strengthening program incorporated into their treatment and we are very well equipped to provide that ourselves on site.
Core Stability
This is a form of exercise that works on the core stabilising muscles of the body to help maintain or regain good structural stability. Achieving good core stability will help you to move more efficiently, become more aware of you posture and thus reduce aches and pains.
